9. FACULTY OF SCIENCE in the (a) Institute of Mathematical Sciences [in the field of Applied Mathematics - preferably in Mathematical or Statistical Modeling or Industrial Mathematics. Candidates must be proactive in research and able to lead a research group in applied mathematics and/or statistics. Candidates will be expected to act as advisor for departmental applications for research grants. The candidates must also conduct consultancy, which acts as a bridge connecting the mathematics community and industry that will benefit from research in mathematical sciences.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

1. Applicants must possess (a) PhD in the relevant field AND (b) proven academic excellence AND (c) have wide experience in the field concerned. All qualifications must be recognized by the Government of Malaysia.
2. Applicants are expected to have a strong and distinguished record of teaching, research and publication in the field concerned and proven ability to provide academic leadership in teaching, research and departmental development.

SALARY : Initial salary offered will be in the range as given below depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience :

Professor Special Grade C : VK7 - RM5478; RM6017; RM6369; RM6622

Public Service Allowance, Housing Allowance, Entertainment Allowance, Critical Service Allowance and Specialist Incentive Payment per month are also paid subject to eligibility.

Cara Memohon

1. 2. Permohonan daripada pegawai yang sedang berkhidmat dalam Perkhidmatan Awam, Badan Berkanun atau Kuasa-Kuasa Tempatan hendaklah dikemukakan melalui Ketua Jabatan masing-masing, bersama-sama Kenyataan Perkhidmatan yang dikemaskini serta Laporan Sulit Khas.

Biasiswa dari KIST dan KAIST di Korea

Sukacita dimaklumkan bahawa terdapat dua buah institusi pengajian tinggi di Korea iaitu ‘The Korea Institute of Science and Technology’ (KIST) dan ‘The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology’ (KAIST) sedang menawarkan biasiswa kepada tiga (3) hingga lima (5) orang pelajar Malaysia untuk melanjutkan pengajian ijazah tinggi (M.Sc dan Ph.D) di kedua-dua institusi tersebut. Kedua-dua institusi ini merupakan institusi penyelidikan Sains dan Teknologi yang terkemuka di Korea.

SCHOLARSHIPS: SEJONG UNIVERSITY, KOREA

1. Fields of Study

Master's or Doctoral Degree in Science and Technology

2. Qualifications & Eligibility
2.1. Applicant should have bachelor's degree in their fields.
2.2. Applicant must have a minimum TOEFL score of 530 (=197 CBT score) as well as a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0.
2.3. The number to be accepted: maximum of 5 students
2.4. The selection will be made on the basis of availability and the departments' need.
2.5. The program will start in March 2004 (spring semester).

3. Scholarship & Fees
3.1 Tuition will be waived.
3.2 The round-trip airfare should be provided by the students.
3.3. R.A. position allowance (400,000 KRW per month) is available for all accepted students.
3.4 Off-campus accommodation will be offered. One room will be allocated for two students. Students should pay the monthly rent of 50,000 KRW. This maintenance fee includes electricity, gas, and water fees. Meals are not offered.
3.5. Students are strongly recommended to purchase an insurance policy. Korean National Health insurance costs about 29,000 KRW per month.
